Considering russia can stop the war at anytime by simply leaving Ukraine. I dont care about Ukrainian crimes.

I care, just not nearly as much as I care about Russian crimes. For the same reason that I care about the crimes of the Allies in WW2, but not nearly as much as I care about the crimes of the fucking Axis.

Exactly. Yes, firebombing Dresden wasn’t exactly the height of civility, but neither was invading all of fucking Europe and murdering millions upon millions of civilians.

Similarly, Ukraine isn’t a country full of saints, but they’re not currently commiting genocide in a country they occupied by force.

And overall, the end goal is an end to war crimes. Is it bad when Russia does it? Yes. Is it bad if Ukraine does it? Yes. Is it bad when the allies do it? Yes. And so on. Anyone who says anything else, fuck them.

They don’t even really care whether there are any real crimes.

I was talking with one of these people not that long ago. They said well Ukraine has been blowing up hospitals soooooooo. I asked them what hospitals. They didn’t answer the question when I asked it several times, then they said what about this? and sent me a story about some kids getting shelled in Donbas 10 years ago. I said one, that’s not hospitals, two, your source doesn’t actually say the Ukrainians did that, it was just part of the separatist fighting by one side or another. They said well yeah sure it’s the BBC, they’re not going to admit it was Ukraine sooooooooo. And anyway, what do you mean, does it not count if it’s not hospitals?

It’s just a pile of shit. Every time. Just like you, I am sure there are individual Ukrainians who have committed war crimes. But it’s not even an equivalence on the level of “well their country is being invaded so they’re excused.” Even with their country being invaded, they haven’t been doing it to any level that is detectable.
