                Casting directors, among other Hollywood insiders, called Martel the Chameleon because her appearance and her proficiency with accents and dialects enabled her to portray characters of a wide range of races and ethnicities

                I might have been bamboozeled by her talent. I’d say that’s a good thing.

              I’ll bite, what black phenotypes is she showing?

              Her skin colour is the same as the guy in the background, straight hair, pointy nose.

              I understand through the history of the US, that people are considered black based on their heritage and that some people are mixed to the point where they become pale and etc, but this particular person in this particular frame doesn’t seem as obviously black as Uhura to a non-black viewer.
