Glyphosate, a pesticide linked to cancer, found at very high levels in menstrual products in the UK, according to report
Toxic pesticide levels have been found in tampons at levels 40 times higher than the legal limit for drinking water.
Traces of glyphosate, a pesticide linked to cancer, has been found at very high levels in menstrual products, according to a report by the Pesticide Action Network UK (Pan UK), the Women’s Environmental Network and the Pesticide Collaboration.
This is concerning, according to the authors, because chemicals absorbed through the vagina directly enter the bloodstream, bypassing the body’s detoxification systems. This means even small traces of chemicals in direct contact with the vagina could cause health risks.
Not naming the brand can lead to more harm.
Almost as much as Makary running the US FDA, who likely won’t even bother testing ours.
Sounds like they just grabbed a handful (double handful?) off the shelves and texted them (https://www.pan-uk.org/period-products/). I doesn’t show brands.
They’re also suggesting cotton production (as the ‘dirtiest crop’) is to blame. Unfortunately washing hygiene products like tampons before use isn’t feasible for the end user.
Since they didn’t mention in the article, now might be a good time to mention silicone menstrual cups as an option for those that haven’t tried them.
What the actual fuck is anybody even doing
Speed running the planet to hell, I think. :/
Again for the #th time, the planet will be absolutely fine, we as human will suffer tho.
Anyone read the article? See any problems with the methodology and reporting? Guess the headline is technically true.
Yikes. I wish menstrual cups were more widely known as an alternative.
I’m not a fan of AI or automation in general (at least not without human oversight) but I hope someday autonomous drones can patrol crops and eliminate weeds and harmful insects so we can reduce our dependence on chemicals
Stuff like that actually already exists, although I don’t know it’s effectiveness at scale.

read that as “patrol cops and eliminate weed (the drug)”
anyways, obligatory slaughterbots
well that’s the limit for water this is some other fluid and as such obviously needs new testing to find a higher limit…
