There’s already an ick associated with working for Amazon, when they start cutting the upsides* why would anyone stick around? I’d personally take a pay cut to go elsewhere if my current job forced me to go in 5 days a week
*Though IMO hybrid working is no longer remotely considered a perk and is the expected norm in this industry now. Even before the pandemic, my previous employer already let us work from home once a week if you wanted to.

Part of the problem is every tech company is churning. So it’s hard to find places to hop to with similar pay.
Hell even friends I know are having tougher times just getting any job. Let alone FAANG level.
I know many tech industry people that have been 5-10 months. It’s a bad time to be looking for a tech job
It is a strange situation where lots of people are retiring, but the jobs aren’t there.
In Canada, the youth (15-24) has a hard time finding jobs, but nobody wants to work I guess.
