Content jacking and top posting other people’s content is really bad for Lemmy. It’s also just being a dick to other people making content on the platform.
- feed is spammy
- divides conversation
- chills engagement
- makes Lemmy less friendly to posters
This pattern is very common on lemmy, and needs to stop.
This is often used to attack or force migrate conversations from a instance someone doesn’t like to another instance they do like. It’s offensive by its very nature.
If you want to make a better community, great, do it but not at the expense of other Lemmy posters.
On the first post, the crosspost is there:
Same for the keyboard one:
For the second post, not sure where it came from as the URL research only shows this post: https://lemmy.world/search?q=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.ca%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F58081294-1211-4b0b-b929-d8b5e682ec6b.png&type=Url&listingType=All&page=1&sort=TopAll
Same for the last link, this is the OP post: https://clj.social/@planet/114720549432446993
That account is labelled as a bot on Lemmy: https://lemm.ee/post/67434573
Do we consider crossposting bot content as stealing?
Are you sure it’s not an issue with how Voyager deals with crossposts?
In some cases, I cross post from the infamous Yogthos who has been widely site banned and won’t show as a crosspost to anyone on an instance that has banned them
In other cases, I crosspost from users who are on instances that either aren’t widely federated with (Beehaw) or intentionally widely defederated from (Grad, hex). It won’t show up as a crosspost in those cases either
That’s a good point. Maybe the lack of cross posts is just my issue.
It isn’t because I use the web directly, and I see it the same way, usually.
It might be worth to maybe update the OP to add that crossposts didn’t always appear correctly for you.
