  • To be fair, it’s software specifically designed to run digital backups of what’s supposed to be personally owned media. It just so happens that it’s very easy to obtain a copy otherwise, but there’s nothing inherently illegal about it or the games.

Strong arming independent projects, and individual developers especially, that are very careful to not endorse that, effectively holding them accountable for others, is morally questionable at best.

  • Real talk, I thought he had died, but maybe I just assumed or expected given hospice and the passing of his wife. For some reason I thought her name was Linda Carter, but Lynda Carter was wonder woman, if that says anything of my intelligence…

In any case, I hear triple digits is a big one, and may he not rest in peanuts just yet.

  • My stupid brain always associates the name Thirteen Ghosts with Venom (2005) and I only realized why just now, when I looked up the latter:

Summary: A group of teenagers fear for their lives in the swamps of Louisiana, chased by Mr. Jangles, a man possessed by 13 evil souls, and now relentless in his pursuit of new victims.

I only saw Venom once when I was way too young and it has its own neural pathway.

Bonus: I found Venom by searching “horror movie truck snake demon” because that’s the imagery that automatically pops into my head alongside Thirteen Ghosts. It’s the first result.

  • It’s like post-marketing. You’re already a user/customer, but companies still want to put psychological hooks in you.

Kind of reminds me of steam’s insane discounts or epic giving away games. That’s more geared toward bringing people in, maybe.

I’d like to believe some instances of this sort of thing can be out of genuine appreciation for supporters, but I might just be naive… It is straight out of the abuser’s handbook.
