Haven’t you tankies considered that locally manufacturing bombs to murder brown children isn’t perfect but it’s good enough?

Ah yes you see we must engage in immoral and evil businesses because it’s good for the economy! nerd See you only think capitalism doesn’t work because you’re not fighting for every tiny scrap of capital regardless of the moral implications. stupid dummy head. I mean, you wouldn’t have to if it weren’t for immigrants and globalism but capitalism is definitely not the issue trust me.

don’t let perfect be the enemy of good

It’s not good! What about this is good? Manufacture something else! Fund schools! Feed people. Develop the potential of your society.

It’s not even the “best bad option under empire.” This is the worst possible option. You are only destroying other societies, not improving your own.

I think what this comes down to is nationalism and the appeal of strength. This guy just likes the idea of building up his nation’s MIC.

As a professional computer toucher who works among the techbros, a lot of them are also convinced that if the US doesn’t step up and make advanced child bombing contraptions, then the US’s enemies (namely China) will rise and inflict even greater torment on the world. “Just look at what they’re doing to the Uyghurs!”

If a building within 100 meters of you got blown up by a foreigner you would rethink your entire position on the acceptability of wanton violence. Or you’d reveal yourself as a bloodthirsty hogmonster which is a choice as well, I suppose - but at least you’d be honest.

Violence sucks. It blows me. I wish it didn’t take the contextualization of horrific things happening to the person in particular to change hearts and minds. It would take sensibilities much different than mine to understand the trauma and fear that violence begets and also call it the cost of doing business.

Europe standing there, groggy, holding its “don’t talk to me until I’ve had my war crime” mug.

Obviously this is banality of evil stuff, but I also hate the way these people torture the language (usually still erroneously) to try and find a justification for something they know there is no moral justification for.

Take this example. The have to eliminate any and all other possibilities to justify it, so they reach for ‘don’t let perfect be the enemy of good’ because it’s binary. Except of course it’s not. It’s a phrase only looking at the extreme end of effort. Besides which, funding ‘local’ manufacturers in order to bomb children could never be described as ‘good’ in the first place. Even rhetorically (never mind knowing anything about how those ‘local’ arm manufacturers actually work - hint: they’re extractive & global) it doesn’t work.

Fuck these smug assholes. Just say you’re a fascist and stop wasting all of our time.

You don’t talk to enough libs, silly leftist.

See, if bombing brown kids has no moral weight or little moral weight, say -1 on the perfect western morality chart, and local manufacturing has a 2 on that scale, that means when to combine their moral value its 2-1=1 which compared to the situation of using other peoples bombs to brown kids is 0-1=-1, thus as you see, bombing brown kids with glorious eurobombs is good in comparison!

I will take my Nobel Peace Prize and my media tour now and remember to vote for me in my next election

Me too, I’d rather work for a big corporation than most small businesses. The worst exploitation happens in all the shitty local bars/restaurants, construction, agriculture, etc. The dude running the local plumbing business is probably doing more fucked up shit to his employees than Walmart.

This isn’t even sarcasm. Obviously the scale is worse for big companies and they contribute exponentially more to global problems, but God damn I’ve never been mistreated more than working for the local real estate investor who also owns a restaurant

One thing that is quite astonishing is how capitalism can turn people into such fucking ghouls. And they say Soviets had good propaganda
