Everything about human society is a construct built by humans. Humans can choose to re-make any aspect of society. There does not need to be poverty, or starvation, or homelessness, these are active choices

One of my podcasts this week was wondering why the clown show admin was bothering to cut medicare. They cited estimates that this bill would increase the US debt by 7 trillion over the next whatever years (like 10 or 15, I forget the exact period), and the medicare/medicaid cuts would only save 1 trillion of that. So basically, why bother saving a fraction of the cost if it’s gonna be a bananas increase anyway. You’d think the fragile orange wouldn’t want anyone negatively reacting to his decisions, especially his cultist voters in poor red states.

because tying healthcare to people’s work is the modern whip of slavery

they want to ensure you have no options left but to be a slave to the shitty conditions of whatever job they want you to do

But that’s already true without cutting those programs. They’re already shitty stopgaps and we’re still wage slaves.

yes and with the cuts, millions more would go from a bad situation to a desperate one… the more desperate, the better the slave

To sell the narrative of cutting waste. The fact that people will be hurt by this doesn’t factor into their consideration in the slightest and they need to stay on message.

I don’t think they need to cut those to lie about cutting waste. They can just say they found 9 gazillion dollars of fraud and this bill made everything better even if it changed nothing (except of course giving money to the rich). Why would they need to change anything to keep lying to people?

Even the politicians believe in the zero sum lie. They think that others must suffer more in order for their lives to get better.

In America yep. You can’t qualify for disability (at least in my state) unless you’re permanently blind, quadriplegic, or have worked a certain number of hours in the last few years. You get a disability at 14? Cool, hope your parents enjoy fighting with the disability claims people every other day! Until you’re 18, at which point you get to basically start all over again!

This is crazy - I moved out of Russia partly because it has “shitty” social system, but in comparison it is not shitty: disabled people get their meds/treatments, even if it is something basic/shitty. And they get disability checks (again, just enough to not starve, but this is something). There is some idiocy like people having to confirm they still don’t have legs every few years, but you won’t lose your status completely.
In Denmark where I am now, you can get most sophisticated treatments, social workers coming and everything. there are downsides (like long waiting times for everything - people die before it’s their turn to get cancer treatment), but I can say I’m more sure of my old years where I’ll be “falling apart” and depending on others.

And even then, the forms are not easy. I helped my girlfriend fill out hers this year (she sustained permanent nerve damage from a car accident several years ago) and you have to explain/justify pretty much everything. You have to explain what you used to do and why you can’t do it anymore. You have to detail what house chores you’re capable of doing, how long it takes you, if someone needs to help you, and so on. It’s pages and pages that require handwritten responses. My hand was hurting several pages in, I can’t imagine someone with nerve damage being able to fill the whole thing out.

Then after all that, you basically have to cross your fingers and hope that your answers aren’t too mild to disqualify you, but also not so extreme that someone will need to investigate/audit you. It’s a frickin’ tightrope, and she’ll have to do it all over again 3 years from now. And three years from then. And so on, for the rest of her life.

Played a game years ago with myself. If I saw a headline mentioning a new or proposed law, without political attribution, I would guess Democrat or Republican. The game consisted of asking myself a simple question:

    Does this bill hurt people?

Didn’t matter who, or even if I felt they deserved it. You can guess the results, and I wasn’t wrong a single time.

Worst part is the racist old bastard probably voted for the orange guy, too.

Just like those who died while on a ventilator throughout 2020 in their barely open (and now probably shuttered) rural hospitals swearing every moment that the vaccine would have been worse… coughing up blood until passing out - never to wake again.

      They don’t care.

Project 2025 says the ideal US population number is around 100 million. That means we need to shed about 250 million people.

This is all according to plan.

They’re not even trying to claim that angle this time. I occasionally peek in on Facebook to see what my hyper-MAGA family members are posting about, and the spin for this one is that all of the millions of people who will lose medical coverage are illegals. Only illegals will be affected, and so it’s actually a good thing.

      Not even kidding.
